Middle and high school students representing Lafourche Parish School District kicked off their summer in a big way! Earlier this month, they traveled to Natchitoches to attend the annual Louisiana Association of Student Councils (LASC) Summer Leadership Workshop at Northwestern State University, where they mastered effective leadership and meeting skills, communication techniques, group dynamics and team building. They had a great time networking with other student leaders from around the state and are returning with lots of new ideas to kick off the upcoming school year.

The LPSD legacy ran deep at this year’s workshop with more than a dozen of our Student Council alumni returning to Natchitoches as counselors and support staff. We are so proud to see our former students giving back and helping to mentor and shape the next generation of leaders in our schools and community. Congratulations to recent THS grad Cullen Murillo, who was honored with LASC’s Mr. Phil Legacy Scholarship. The future of Lafourche Parish is incredibly bright!

Peep Our Progress 🛠️

The home side stadium repairs at Thibodaux High School are wrapping up. Repairs on the visitor side will be completed following the 26-27 football season.

All three of our high school stadiums are undergoing vital structural concrete repairs and waterproofing upgrades to preserve and protect the facility. These improvements will help prevent future deterioration, enhance safety, and extend the service life of the stadium for students, athletes, and the community.

Thank you for your patience and support as we work to provide a safer, stronger environment for our students, community and visitors.

The perspective looks up and across a wide, smooth grey concrete walkway or concourse area in the foreground. To the right, tiers of grey concrete bleacher seating with long metal benches rise steeply toward the top of the stadium. A stainless steel safety railing with chain-link mesh panels separates the walkway from the seating area. In the upper-left background, a two-story press box with large glass windows sits at the top of the grandstands, next to a tall stadium light pole.

Louisiana’s results on the National Education Scorecard were released Wednesday, and the Lafourche Parish School District continues to demonstrate marked growth among our peers, particularly in the area of math.

Lafourche Parish was one of four Louisiana school systems recognized as a “District of the Rise” for showing exceptional progress in math compared to similar districts around the state. LPSD received similar recognition last fall for demonstrating the third-highest growth in math proficiency in grades three through eight on LEAP.

“This recognition is a testament to the effort of our students and the unwavering dedication of our educators,” said Superintendent Jarod W. Martin. “This achievement reflects countless hours of hard work in our classrooms and a collective commitment to academic excellence across the district. While we celebrate this significant milestone, it also serves as a catalyst for future growth. We remain steadfast in our mission to build upon this momentum, ensuring every student has the tools and support necessary to reach their full potential.”

Overall, Louisiana was number one among states in reading growth, number two in math growth, and the only state to surpass 2019 levels in both reading and math.

We are incredibly grateful for our families and our community for their continued support as we strive for excellence. Let’s keep moving forward together!

We are incredibly proud to announce that two of our amazing educators have been recognized for their excellence in teaching by the annual American Petroleum Institute Delta Chapter Teacher Award Program.

Claudia Landry of Raceland Upper Elementary School received the Chairman’s Award, and Andrea Daigle of Thibodaux High School was the recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award. Winners were selected based on their commitment to teaching, resourcefulness, professional involvement, and community service and were recognized last week at the chapter’s Teacher Award Luncheon at the National World War II Museum

.The API Teacher Award Program was established by the Delta Chapter in 1987 to pay tribute to and reinforce outstanding teaching in the New Orleans metropolitan area, including the parishes of Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Tammany and Terrebonne.

Congratulations Claudia and Andrea on your selection, and thank you for your untiring efforts in educating the students of the Lafourche Parish School District.

We are excited to announce the districtwide launch of My Ride K-12, our new school bus tracking app. With this mobile app, parents and guardians can get real-time GPS-based location tracking to find out where their child’s bus is on its route and know when they are expected to arrive at their designated stop.

When you’re ready to get started, use this link to learn more about the app, how to download it, and set up your parent account: https://www.mylpsd.com/o/lpsd/page/my-ride-k-12-mobile-app

To complete your account setup, you will need your child’s student ID number, which can be found in the OnCourse Connect app on the “Other Data” tab under “Student Info” or by contacting your child's school.
